YOUR FAITHFULNESS MAKES AN IMPACT

WHEN YOU GIVE, YOU'RE TRUSTING GOD WITH YOUR FINANCES

The world has a lot to say about how we should spend our wealth, but God has a purpose for every resource He has placed in our hands. In other words, we are managers of God's money. We believe God wants us to earn, spend and, yes, give in a way that honors Him. Giving is an investment into God that breaks the hold money has over our lives and frees us to encounter God's presence in a fresh way.

In the Old Testament, God gave a system for consistent giving called the Titheor tenth. People would give the best of the first 10% to the local storehouse (it was crops and cattle back then). This was a system of trusting God to provide, rather than being self-reliant. It's described here in Malachi 3:10:

Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.

The New Testament takes it up a notch. We see in the Book of Acts that the standard of the early church was to give EVERYTHING to the local church and live communally. The call to New Testament Christians is radical, sacrificial generosity. Crazy right?! Picture if your preacher told everyone that they should sell all that they have, give it to the church and then follow Jesusmass chaos in the pews and subpar commentary on social media. But fully trusting God is the ultimate goal, according to the Bible at least.

We at Orbit Church want to be gracious about generosity—but also intellectually honest, so we encourage everyone to start giving, move into the Old Testament tithe and, eventually, be generous like the New Testament encourages.

TLDR: the Bible encourages giving somewhere between the Old Testament (tithe) and the New Testament (all).

So what should you do?

  1. Start somewhere

  2. Jump to the Old Testament Tithe

  3. Increase incrementally to New Testament, radical and sacrificial generosity.

The 3 P's of Biblical Generosity

  • Make it a Priority (before bills, taxes, entertainment)

  • Make it a Percentage (2% of income takes more faith than $200 a month)

  • Make it a Progression (keep increasing to the tithe and beyond)

The General Tithe & Offerings fund fuels the weekly ministry of Orbit Church—everything that helps people find peace, develop purpose and revolve everything around Jesus in our city. The Orbit Advancement Fund exists for something different: it establishes the future of Orbit Church.

The Advancement Fund is for anyone (inside or outside our church) who feels led to give above and beyond the tithe to strengthen the long-term stability, presence, and vision of Orbit Church in Buckeye, AZ. While tithes and offerings support the daily work of ministry, the Advancement Fund invests in the things that help our young church become firmly established for generations to come.

This includes:

  • Securing land for our future home

  • Preparing for building development

  • Expanding our presence and impact in the Buckeye community

  • Creating pathways for larger, one-time, or legacy gifts (including DAFs and estate planning)

This fund also serves friends of Orbit, partner churches, and outside organizations who believe in our mission and want to invest in what God is building here—without redirecting their tithe from their own local church.

The Bible shows a pattern of God’s people giving toward the ongoing ministry of the church and toward special offerings that expand the mission (think temple construction, famine relief, or sending out missionaries). The Advancement Fund sits in that same spirit: a chance to fuel what God is doing now and help build what God will use in the future.

If God has placed the desire or capacity in your heart to give above and beyond, the Orbit Advancement Fund is a meaningful way to invest in a long-term gospel presence in the West Valley—so that future generations will revolve everything around Jesus.
